So-so so far
Have used this pan once, and heated it on high to make sure the heat got through to the lid, which is supposed to cook the top of the sandwich. The bottom of the sandwich burnt black and started smoking within 20 seconds, and the top never browned the top of the sandwich. I had to turn off the burner, flip it over after I unstuck it, and brown it the rest of the way. I'm not giving up though, next time I will heat the pan on medium heat. The pan is now soaking the in sink to get the carbon off!
Try using it for steaks! They cook really fast!!
We got this for Christmas last year and never even thought about cooking sandwiches with it. Heat the bottom and top (really hot) over a hot stove and cook a steak, on both sides without turning it!! You will have to make sure that there is a little oil on the steak or the pan, but not much. Great for "grilling" in the winter
Don't buy it, too heavy to return
I ended up giving it away to a friend of mine. I just kept the lid which makes the marks and is heavy enough to make panninis. It's too heavy to cook, clean, or store. It's really and eyesore color as well. I got the "persimmon" but who are they kidding, it's orange and who has an orange kitchen. Even if you were going to leave it on your stovetop, you'd have to constant move it around and it's too heavy to do that. There are so many other grill and presses out there, don't get this one. Even if you could... more info
Unacceptable product
Sandwich bread was literally welded to the bottom of the grill at medium low heat. The bottom of my sandwich could not be removed from the utensil. The strange enamelled matte finish, which is not to be seasoned, is unsuitable for its intended purpose. Used once and thrown out. The product is attractive but functionally worthless and is rated "unacceptable."
