Compost Crock
I've had one of these for a couple of years and use it every day. The handle slips off easily so you can wash the crock in the dishwasher, but is secure for carrying it to the compost bin. I wash the entire thing (including the filter) in the dishwasher as needed. Most of the time I don't even need to use the filter, as there is no odor when it is taken out to the compost pile daily. I'm completely happy with it and would recommend it to anyone who likes to compost.
Common Sense Solution
I decided on ceramic over stainless based on maintaining my stainless appliances in a hard water area - they spot terribly and I just didn't want to have to deal with that. I like this compost keeper. I think it's just the right size to put a few days worth of scraps in, the filter in the lid is a nice touch. I have experienced the handle coming off one time - it slips right back on easily. Personally I like it because I can take the handle off to put the entire bucket into the dishwasher. We have been looking for a good counter top compost bucket. This one is heavy and looked difficult to keep clean. Attractive from the outside but it would get broken easily in my house.
UNHAPPY
NEEDS NEW HANDLE DESIGN, CONSTANTLY SEPARATES FROM CERAMIC KEEPER. EVENTUALLY FELL OFF WHILE CARRYING IT AND ENTIRE CERAMIC KEEPER SHATTERED.
